Yoga, the enlightenment of the day or week depending on your schedule! If you have your own Yoga Mat, whether you do yoga at home, in a studio or in nature, you will want to clean and disinfect that mat after each session to keep the nasties away. Here at A Scent To Remember we use our own recipe of Yoga Mat Spray Cleaner. This is the same formula we sell at or store.
In this post we will teach you how to make your own Yoga Mat Spray Cleaner. This could also work as an all around natural cleaner if you should choose to do so. It is simple and only a few things are needed to do it. Essential oils have many beneficial properties to them. Tea tree essential oil is antibacterial and antifungal. Lavender essential oil is an antibacterial oil with a relaxing and calming scent that relieves tension and is great for unwinding post-yoga. Both combined together make a wonderful clean refreshing scent. You can use your own Essential Oils or you can order them from our store at this link: Essential Oil Shop
You will need the following:
- 2 oz - 4 oz Small Spray Bottle
- Tea Tree Essential Oil
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Spirits (100 Proof Vodka works best Any Brand) or Witch Hazel.
- Distilled Water (Any Brand)
For tough-to-clean mats or studio use, you can fill 1/4 of the bottle with Spirits (100 Proof Vodka ) or Witch Hazel for those who may not have access to Vodka, or may not be old enough to purchase it. Witch Hazel has a strong aroma so be prepared if you use that.
For a 2 oz bottle add 24 drops of essential oil.
16 drops of Tea Tree
8 drops of Lavender
For a 4 oz bottle add 48 drops of essential oil.
32 drops of Tea Tree
16 drops Lavender
(For a larger bottle of spray, (Ex: for an 8 oz double the amounts of essential oil in the 4 oz recipe) use formula above depending on the Ounces of fluid)
Once the Spirits or Witch Hazel are mixed with the proper amount of Essential Oils slowly start to add the Distilled Water. Do Not Overfill; add your spray top and shake your bottle. and Use!
You have now created your own Yoga Mat Spray Cleaner. You can use this to also clean counters and other surfaces you see fit. Remember! This is for external use cleaning. Do not ingest or spray on your skin. Keep away from Eyes and mucus membranes.
